Opaque, black body topped with a thin brown head; head soon dissipates to a thin ring around the glass. Interesting aroma; dark roasted grains with a touch of banana and oak. Rich, full flavor of chocolate and maple syrup; boozy; something like star anise; raisins; tobacco juice. Heavy body; dense with slick residual sugars; nice dose of alcohol warmth.

With all things considered, this beer has a richly delightful taste and smooth and silky mouthfeel.

poured from a 330mL bottle into a perennial snifter. pours an oily, thick black with a thin layer of dark brown foam which recedes into a chocolate swirl in the middle of the glass. chocolate-dipped banana but bread in the nose and taste. loads of barrel on this bad boy. the taste has more chocolate than the nose but the nose has a lot of barrel to it. really thick, full mouthfeel. i’m a big cycle fan and this one was good but the flavor combination or what they were going for just wasn’t my favorite. still, a solid barrel-aged imperial stout.
