Second of the series I’m trying. Standard stout appearance, tan edging, minimal head, minimal lacing, a bit of sheen on the top. Scents of chocolate, dark roasted malt, vanilla, and barrel. Flavors are the same, but there’s also a sweet almost acidic tang in there. Thanks to Luscious_Malfoy for saying he got dark fruit, cause that’s what made sense. Well balanced in flavors. The feel is where this is weakest. The tang pulls it down, plus the sheen leads to a slightly too strong oiliness. Strong booziness.

I had Green Label at 4.65, and apparently that’s the best so far. I’d say this is excellent, but not as good as Green.

Earlier today, I had a Prairie Double Vanilla Noir. I’d rate this slightly lower. Both of them have top ten barrel aged programs. I think I should stop drinking beer today so I don’t ruin the day with a bad one.

poured from a 22oz bomber into a spiegelau tulip snifter. pours shiny brown with the consistency of oil with thin, dark brown foam cap that quickly fades away. bourbon sting, chocolate and oak on the nose. a little vanilla as it warms. more chocolate and bourbon, vanilla and oak as well as some dark fruits on the taste. thick, full mouthfeel. this is an excellent non-adjunct barrel-aged imperial stout. chocolate forward base stout with plenty of bourbon barrel character and even hints of vanilla from the bourbon barrels.
