A: Orange, caramel color, murky. The white foam hold on very well.
S: Nose mainly on caramel, also floral with some citruses and pine.
T: The palate is resionous, quite sweet, with caramel malts present on the backbone. Floral hoppiness. Light bitterness.
M: Medium bodied. Not much carbonated for the style but this is compensated by a dry finish.
O: A good balance between sweet malts and a discrete hoppiness.

First had: on tap at Peg's, Gulfport, FL

Darker amber pour with a foamy white head that receded to a wispy layer and left streaks of lacing on the glass. Pale biscuity malts in the nose, somewhat dominated by earthy and piney hops. A pretty simple beer, but solid and well-balanced overall, biscuity malts, caramel, toasted bread, pine and earthy hops. Medium body, and easily drinkable.

Draft at the cantina.

Pours a cloudy golden amber color with orange edges and a two finger creamy white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring.  Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.

Slightly earthy aroma with some dank pine and citrus fruit countered by biscuity malt and graham cracker.

Medium bodied yet fuller than expected with a nice balance of dry earthy hops, sweet citrus fruit and pale malts.  Nice crisp hop bite up front that is dry without being too bitter followed by hints of mango, grapefruit, caramel/biscuity malt and bread.  Well balanced and easy to drink.

Beer served on draft at Pegs, beer is amber / reddish with a mild haze, nice white head small bubbles, some lacing, moderate carbonation, decent retention.

Aroma is mildly hoppy, a little malt.

Beer is medium in body, mildly bitter, some hop flavor in the middle, this is a beer for the masses here, a finely crafted perfectly good little ale, not complex, just simple and well made.

Review from notes at Peg's Cantina on 9/10/11.

Draft poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Poured a medium amber color with orange highlights and a 1 finger creamy off-white head. Excellent lacing.

Smell: Malty with both grassy and piney hops.

Taste: Black pepper and grains up front followed by grainy malt in the middle before ending with a nice hoppy bitterness at the finish. Aftertaste is peppery and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Very smooth.

Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. Goes down easy.

Overall: Very good beer overall. Like most things Doug brews at Peg's, this one is definitely worth a try.
