First Cycle brew of the year after six downed in 2025; a lot considering the brewery is over 1,520 miles from my humble shack.
Like every stout these days it seems, this is dense, hard black with minimal head. The nose is like standing in a malt warehouse with a shot of bourbon halfway to my mouth.
Cycle Rare Dos - Three Year Aged tops the original on its knees. Heavy blow of bourbon in the mouth, throat, palate, & partway into the stomach is dominant. The aforementioned malts provide a shaky framework of sweetness, smooth, a little earthy, with nuttiness emerging as it warms. I'm taking sip after sip. Figured this big boy would last me to midnight; ain't lookin' that way.
A notable entry in Cycle's encyclopedia. Boozy, bourbony, sweet, delicious. Excellent brew.
