On tap at Peg's served in a matching snifter. The brew appears a pale yellow golden color with a thin white head. The cap recedes quickly down to a thin film quite rapidily in typical berliner fashion.
The smell is rindy and slightly herbal to earthy aspect. Lactic quality is present immediately invoking thoughts of tart/sourness that gets me salivating before the first sipnis even taken. As it wamrs, it gets bright with almost a lemony aspect.
The taste is lactic with an enjoyable lemon essence. Somewhat rindy with a crazy fresh watermelon character that lasts long into the aftertaste with a flavor of rinds that is nearly identical to the flavor left inside your mouth when you eat close to the rind of a watermelon.
This is a light bodied brew with a modest level of carbonation. It is crisp, refreshing and super easy drinking. Hats off to Doug for capturing that flavor of watermelon with such a natural taste that intrgrates perfectly with the style. If given the opportunity, I would drink this all day long.
