On tap:
Pours a tad darker than golden, witha light haze. Tight-bubbles head has a thick collar that grabs the glass on the way down.
A nice peppery nose with a orchard fruitiness. A deeper inhalation brings some grassy bitterness and a lightly distinct yeast note.
Taste surprises a tad with a tartness involved in the notes that were expected from the nose. A little maltiness is covered up a bit by the lemon tartness. The dry grass to pepper notes come next, but a little grapefruit (pulp and pith) peeks in the end.
An interesting beer that has a little more body than I like. It has aspects of a Brett-influenced beer in some ways. Enjoyable on the whole.

this has somewhat more haze and is a shade or two paler than the brett edition for whatever reason. its great beer, well hoppy for the style, and sort of crosses a couple of styles. the saison yeast is very mild here, not striding out too far in front of a very modest wheat and pale pils type malt base, delicate on both counts, but interesting and very fresh at the same time. the hops really lead the way on this one, grassy in the nose, but quite citrus forward in the flavor, with a whole lot of high alpha bitterness and distinct lemon overtones. the balance is nice, and to see hops truly in front of the yeast i think is uncommon in this style, but the beer remains curiously light and soft and approachable. super clean in the finish too, crackling dry and without much residual bitterness from the hops. a very enjoyable beer here, perfect for summer. i could see the flavors working in a black saison too, maybe they will give that a try in colder weather. i was impressed with every beer i drank in here, very high on these guys right now!
