The TPP may be dead, but cross-Pacific partnership is alive! Brewed in Japan as a collaboration between Coedo Brewery, located just outside of Tokyo, and Denver Beer Co.' of Colorado, this saison features yuzu, rice & sake yeast from Japan along with a mix of American and Japanese hops. The yuzu, a Japanese citrus, lends a sweet orange and grapefruit flavor to the beer, complimented by the fruity notes of the sake and saison yeasts. This beer is balanced, citrus forward and endlessly refreshing. Meet us on the mountain top, a mile-high for a Kampai!

Clear, dark gold body; incredibly soft, thick and dense head; excellent thick and sticky rings of foam ladder the glass. An incredibly delicate and gentle scent; a bit floral, a bit citrus-like; light honey dew melon; very floral in nature; clover honey. Tart, nearly sour taste overall; intense old, fermented fruit notes; lemon-like. Medium-heavy body; rather smooth and rich on the palate; relatively dry.

The beer has fantastic eye appeal, and the aroma is divine. The taste is rather different, perhaps the yuzu. It certainly has a citrus/grapefruit character to it. There is also a slight bitterness at the finish. This beer is complex and intriguing, delicate yet bold. A very nice variation of the saison style...
