16 ounce prowler into signature tulip glass, filled on 12/1/2019. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 22 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lightly tart cherry, cinnamon, clove, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, wood, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of almond, coconut, vanilla, fruit skin, honey, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, oak barrel, cherries, orange peel, bitterness, and moderate pale malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big lightly tart cherry, cinnamon, clove, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, wood, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of almond, coconut, vanilla, fruit skin, honey, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart cherry, cinnamon, clove, orange peel, coriander, peppercorn, wood, herbal, floral, grass, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, almond, coconut, vanilla, fruit skin, honey, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, oak barrel, cherries, orange peel, bitterness, and moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged fruited saison. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, oak barrel, cherries, orange peel, bitterness, and moderate pale malt flavors; dangerously smooth and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Awesome balance of juicy cherries, spices, and saison yeast complexity; with nice oak presence and a clean pale malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example as expected of the brewery. Not overwhelming on any aspect.
