Pours a translucent straw with two fingers of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is yeast, biscuity, bready malts, and clove. It has a heavy mineral, metallic aroma note, driving it off the rails. Flavor profile biscuity, bready malts with light yeast at first, and then expands on the palate to form a massive yeasty finish that lingers. Metallic qualities bring down the experience a notch or two. Mouth feel is medium-thin with an expansive effervescent texture. Overall, a fair start, but the long lingering yeast and metallic notes bring this down a notch, keeping it from sipping clean.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 330mL can.

I bought this crwft beer in Tokyo hoping for something different. I got it. This was a pleasant Saison with a unique, perky taste. The can did not say what style the beer was (in English) so this was both a surprise and a surprisingly tasty beer.

350ml Can from Lawson's Station, Shinjuku, Tokyo (¥288):
Quite a fresh & balanced saison with some nice tart & funk coming through that meant it was miles better than I'd expected after finding out it was another Japanese brewed saison; mainly down to the fact the only other fitting that bill that I've tried was Hitachino Nest's terrible Saison Du Japon offering. There was some nice citrus & zesty flavours early on with biscuit malts & earthy hops providing a nice balance along the way which meant it was an easy on to drink & one that I'd happily have again too.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising fairly quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint bright yellow highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film surrounded by a a very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of pale + wheat malts with a light to moderate aroma of grainy malts, all with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate aromas of spicy saison yeast and moderate aromas of barnyard funky brett. Light aromas of lemon citrus and a light to moderate aroma of hops - herbal and citrus/grapefruit pith.
T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of pale, wheat, and grainy malts with only the slightest hint of sweetness. That is followed by a slightly stronger than moderate flavor of spicy saison yeast and funky barnyard brett. Finally there are light flavors of lemon citrus and moderate flavors of hops - herbal and citrus/grapefruit pith. The hops contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness in the finish which fades away quickly leaving a light lingering funkiness.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront. Moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: I really enjoyed this beer - funky and slightly hoppy, with a still noticeable saison yeastiness. Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Glad my wife found this one at the convenient store when she was in Japan.

On tap at Craftman in Kyoto.
2.75/3.25/3/3.5/2.75
Clear, pale yellow with no head. It smells delicate and spicy, with a hint of fruit. Not very pungent.
It's a bit sour. The saison yeast is present, but struggling. Conceivably could be a bad line, but as is the beer is a bit off. Mouthfeel is thin, though a bit of welcome yeast spice on the end jazzes it up slightly. The flavor is almost nonexistent.
Overall, not worth your time. Disappointing.
