a fine ipa, but i liked their mandarin single hopped a lot better. i thought that was more well rounded and creative, but this is tasty enough for the stock ipa drinkers, i just felt like it was one of the least inventive of their beers on the menu there. maybe thats what name implies though, not trying to be over contemplated, just enjoyed, and it definitely works for that. paler in color, very little of the crystal malt we see very commonly in there, and i like its absence here because its less malt balanced, more hop focused. not sure which varietals they use in this one, but it has a nice punchy bitterness on the tail end, and a lively fresh almost leafy grassy complexion up front. dry in the finish, strong enough for the style, and nicely carbonated with just a bit of biscuity malt leftover after the swallow. well made beer, they all were at fieldhouse. definitely one of the top breweries in colorado springs, i just preferred their other hoppy stuff to this one, which was a little plain, but still very well done.
