Look - pours dark reddish brown like a brown ale or old ale. Not dark enough for a stout in my book. Little head retention but not expected given the 11.8 ABV. Lacing present on the glass which is nice.
Smell - mild malt with some fruit coming through. I am getting no roasted notes or chocolate.
Taste - bourbon upfront with wine finishing. I pick up nothing in between. No discernible hops or malts. Disappointing.
Mouthfeel - Thin. Too thin for an imperial stout. And, that is taking into consideration that it is 11.8 ABV. It just doesn’t hold up to what a true imperial stout should deliver.
Overall - I bought 2 bombers and will struggle through them. I may actually breakdown and use the second one for cooking where I think it may shine. I’ll skip this going forward.
