On tap at Resurgence Brewing Company in Buffalo, NY.
Pours a rustic looking golden yellow color, looks slightly creamy even, with a quarter inch head, and not much lacing. Looks quite nice.
Smells like caramel, sweet malt and toffee.
Tastewise, this is an absolute licorice/anise bomb. I was surprised to get that, considering I didn't pick it up in the smell, but it's overwhelming. There's not much other flavor going on- I pick up a bit of coconut, and some caramel, and some wheat bitterness, but it keeps cycling back to the the licorice. Hard to finish this one.
The body is fairly thick, with a syrupy mouthfeel, and a lower level of carbonation.
If the licorice component of this one (I don't even think they added licorice) was toned down, this would be much better. As of now, it's hard to drink.
