Head in the clouds double IPA immediately hits you with a huge aroma of white peach, citrus orange, and sweet pineapple. It has a soft, full body, dominated by juicy grapefruit and papaya flavors and it finishes clean and deceptively light for its ABV

Head in the Clouds - from Resurgence. 16 fl oz can purchased from Franklin Beer Co, Franklin, PA, 30/05/24, $ 4.50 (Including tax), $ 0.282/fl oz. Reviewed 10/06/24 (Review 3293). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored in reefer at the distributor, 34 degrees at home. Served at 43.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 49.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), cloudy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. Under direct light, tons of precipitate are present. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.2 cm, aggressive center pour), cream, high density, good retention, leaving a 1.0 – 1.5 cm meringue crown and cap.
Lacing – Excellent! Wide band of near microscopic to tiny bubbles, with a couple of arches and some outlying islands.
Aroma – 3 – Weak citrus. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol (8.4 % ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 3 – Slightly bitter with vague citrus. None of the flavors listed on the can (peach, melon, pineapple) are to be found. No yeast, no hops, no alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; creamy; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated personal container) Very mediocre IPA, but it could be old since they haven’t bothered to date the can.

16 oz can dated 5/23/18. Traded from Beerchaeology. Poured into tall SN swirl glass.
Hazy bright gold color with a very tall fluffy hop-powered head of 3 fingers. Good lacing left behind, not webby but in sparse broken islands.
Nose is comprised of melon, grapefruit rind, and strong dank catty notes. Very faint berry/Hawaiian punch going on as the glass is agitated fiercely. Light spikes of pine and cracker behind all of that aroma keeping it sharp and focused.
Flavor is floral and herbal for the most part, slight woody pine, with fading notes of grapefruit rind and faint citrus pith. Definitely not a juice-focused IPA, just "a hazy" one, lots of bitterness reaching out with resiny tenticles to grab your tongue and squeeze it.
Feel is sharp and crisp with creaminess underneath, medium bodied, slight alcohol burn on the finish, resins clinging on.
Overall, a pretty decent IIPA. Nothing I'd really trade for again but it's not a shabby beer in the slightest. Give it a whirl if you see it.
