Canned late 2015; drank 1/3/16 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; strong tree-rung lace.
Mango, orange citrus & faint honey notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Sweet orange citrus flavor up front; dry rye bite on the finish.
The nose promised citrus bliss, but this well balanced IPA was not quite up to fulfilling its destiny.

Orange-copper color, fluffy white head. Floral hops, light citrus aroma. Not too strong but very pleasant. Taste is juicy citrus, moderate hop bitterness and just a hint of peppery rye. Creamy, highly drinkable. If the abv were a little lower this would be easily sessionable.

Pours a murky brownish gold with a nice white head. Aroma is not strong: citrusy but in a vague way with hints of spicy rye. The taste starts with a tart grapefruit and shifts to the spiciness of the rye. The texture is fairly creamy but the finish is super dry.
I really like this beer. I like malty and rye IPAs. This could use a bit more hops (I don't see a date on the can, so it might be past it's prime) but I will definitely drink this again.

Pours a dark crisp copper color with a 1-2 finger head that dissipates leaving almost no lacing.
Smell is initially grapefruit and tropical fruits quickly giving way to a malty caramel sweetness.
Taste follows the nose with a nice blend of the tropical fruit flavors from the hops coming through while countered by the caramel malts. I tend to think of rye malts as being "spicier", but this beer is actually quite sweet and no spice. Not exactly what Im looking for in a rye IPA. The sweetness also covers the bitterness so you never really get that bitter finish from the hops.
The feel is interesting. Its very full bodied for an IPA. There is a thick sweetness to it almost reminiscent of an IPA brewed with oats ... It does come across as a bit much for the IPA, but its not bad, just different.
Overall its a decent beer - not one I'd seek out again, but that says more about my tastes for a rye IPA than it does the overall quality of this brew. Aquanaut doesn't have a large lineup, but they seem to know what they're doing and the brews I've had from them so far were all solid to above average. If you like Rye IPA's I'd say give this one a try.

A nice IPA with a solid rye character and an even caramel influence that I think could be toned down to make this a little more drinkable. Hazy amber with short light beige head with herbal, honeysuckle and light orange/grapefruit tones layered on medium caramel sweetness in the nose. Flavor also has strong medium caramel notes which are eventually overtaken by herbal, earthy, spicy, and floral citrus hop qualities. The sweetness persists throughout and hampers drinkability somewhat. It carries over to body as it hinders the dry finish and pumps up the body a bit too much for the style. A nice beer but needs to reduce the medium caramel and maybe cut it with lighter crystal malts to enhance drinkability.

Probably not fair to this one that it followed a pint of Zombie dust, but such is life. Solid flavor up front for me, but it fades quickly. Some residual rye spice and bitterness, but nothing to bring me back for more
