very sturdy bourbon barrel barleywine here, fairly impressive bottle of beer, although its certainly not the most flavorful one of these out there. there is a liquid butterscotch color to this, a little heady, and a very frothy white head, some density, no sediment. heavy oak aromatic, brown sugar more than bourbon with it, there is quite obviously a ton of grain in here. sweet caramels, vanilla oak, fusel alcohol, and a bit of cardboard as a result of very minor oxidation, harvest barley, red apple, honey, and toffee. very sweet but it comes in distinct waves, which makes it a lot more interesting than something that hits you all at once. tons of grain, lots of booze, its a strong beer, definitely not for the meek. lots of body too, frothy and sudsy feeling on the tongue, long sweet vanilla finish, caramel apple and even maple come on late. nice depth of flavor in a somewhat lighter colored barleywine, my first beer from these guys, and a solid and distinct one. thanks to drlovemd87 for the hookup as always!

Beautiful dark amber with lacy long-lasting head. Smells prominently of wort/malted barley and caramel. Like brew day with dessert. Decadent burnt sugar, barley and hop flavors mingle well. Heavy but drinkable mouthfeel. If you love the smell of wort and delicious beer this is a winner. It's hard to stop drinking.
