Slightly hazed, gold/copper body, glistening, with a thick, egg-white head holding very good retention
Aroma is primarily clean, lightly sweet malt, and maybe a mild whiff of fruity esters.
On the tongue, it's grainy-sweet malt, lightly of caramel, with a balancing hop bitterness that grows, becoming the prominent flavour in the long finish. The hop flavour is low, relatively bland, resinous and spiced. Medium-light body and low-ish carbonation makes it easy-drinking and refreshing, though a touch watery. Well attenuated, with a dry finish

A refreshing, approachable choice as a sessionable summer brew. more hop flavour and carbonation would make it excellent

I like it a bit better then the 35 and 118 cream ale.
Remember always check those dates after 5 and half or over 6 months the taste of the beer will change .make sure you get a fresh batch .especially if you are buying Ontario craft beers

POurs a medium foamy bubbly head that fades at a med pace, a bit of lacing, semi hazy medium gold color

Nose light raw bread dough, little sweet grainy malt, cracker, little fruity, hint herbal hop

Taste mild sweet doughy malt, raw bread dough and a little cracker, doughy wheat like lager malt, touch of yeast like bread dough, hops kick in quite a bit, herbal floral like medium hops bitterness that turns to a higher bitterness due to lack of malt balance, touch fruity notes

Mouth is med to lighter bod, medium carb, lighter carb

Overall not bad, but not quite a kellerbier, doesn't have a ton of the suspended yeast and quick fermentation characters but that's not too bad, but the high hopping overpowers the beer a bit and isn't quite to style.

 

 

Pale amber with generous creamy stable head. Aroma light almost indistinct malt sweetness. Flavour bready, cookie door with distinct well balenced herbal bitterness. Good mouth feel - refreshing finish.

 

 

Great beer! Best I have ever had in this style. A bit confusing very old style of beer though... Boshkung shows this as an Ale. However traditional recipes categorize "Kellerbier" as a Lager. Hmmm? Either way, this is a very flavorful and session-able beer. Pours gold in color, with a bubbly head. Forward bitterness, finishing dry and a tad sour. Really good beer. Boshkung Cream Ale is nice as well.

 

 

 

Boshkung Brewing Company's North Country Kellerbier. Brewed in Minden Hills, Ontario. 473 ml can. 5% alc. 23 IBUs.

The beer has a hazy, almost amber colour and a thick white head.

The smell is white bread and malted barley. All very delicate. Subtle hop aroma.

The taste is malty up front, followed by yeast and white bread that smooth out the overall beer.

The beer is medium bodied and there is a dry finish. There is also a nice hop bitterness at the end but nothing that is robust.

This was my first time trying this beer and I really liked it. I would say it's very good.

 

 

473 mL can from the LCBO; packaged Nov 23 2016 and served lightly chilled.

Pours a hazy medium-golden colour, capped off with nearly a full inch of frothy, bubbly, bone white head that fades off within the next 2-3 minutes. Scant lacing, with a modest collar and a thin, wispy cap remaining in place afterwards. Not too interesting visually. Grassy hay/straw, spicy hops, doughy bread and crackers on the nose, with a pronounced grainy-sweet character and a clean aroma.

The flavour follows the aroma, with grainy, crackery pale malts and doughy, bready sweetness working together at the forefront. Hints of banana mid-sip. The back end is where the understated hops start to work their magic, providing a grassy, herbal bitterness with just a touch of peppery spice. Light in body, with mild carbonation that gives this brew a soft, smooth texture, and makes it extraordinarily easy to knock back and very sessionable. Tasty and refreshing.

Final Grade: 3.73, a serviceable B grade. Boshkung's North Country is not a bad brew at all - I actually quite enjoy it, but simply put I don't think it's a particularly amazing example of a kellerbier. Certainly a good stab at the style, though, and a welcome addition to the shelves in a relatively keller-less Ontario. If this ends up being distributed to Sarnia then I'll be grabbing a few more cans to support this relatively young brewery, and I'll keep an eye out for additional Boshkung products in the future.

Slightly hazed, apricot colour, no head, no lace. Some yeast or sediment or bubbles (???) suspended throughout gives it an oddly interesting look somehow. Nose is grain over malts. Same to taste, lingering bitterness and dryness. Passably good, but not really too memorable. Reminds me somehow of an English ale, but far less bitter. Not really sweet or juicy enough to come across as a Kolsch to my palate. Competent, but no thrill.
