On cask at Prime 16 for the annual NEBCO tap takeover. Served in a pint glass.
A: Opaque orange body under a half-inch of off-white froth that quickly dissipates and leaves no lace. Uninspiring, although I'm excited about the prospect of how hoppy it must be to be so thick-looking.
S: Pure hop juice, like sticking your nose in a bag of hop pellets. Hugely fruity and tropical, with mango, pineapple, and citrus all standing out alongside dank vegetal resin. Wonderful.
T: Follows the nose, but with even more intensity and round smoothness. Pineapple and lime are the major fruit flavors, with the pure organic hop notes helpfully reminding me that I'm not drinking straight fruit juice. The finish is long, smooth, and just bitter enough to keep the juicy sweetness at bay. Incredibly easy to drink, and incredibly delicious.
M: Again, juice-like. Almost no carbonation, and very smooth. I would have like a bit more life, even from a cask pour, but boy did it go down easy.
O: Great beer, and a stark contrast with the (IMO) just as great regular draft version. Well done as always, NEBCO!
Cheers!
