Anyone remember the Fat 10er series? Our old experimentation tank that saw dozens of styles and gave us many of our current beers. Well, we had some extra citra hopped wort so we filled up the old 10bblfat 10er tank, and brought back the old name for some one-off fun where we left off back in 2016.

It was fermented with a famed Vermont yeast strain and dry hopped fat 10er style with 5#/bbl of mostly citra and a dash of Idaho 7 that screamed ripe pineapple during our hop selection. It is full of tropical citrus, pineapple, mango and peach notes with a balanced resinous bitter mouthfeel.

Hops: Citra, Cryo Citra, More Citra, and Idaho 7

A: Dark gold with sudsy white head. Color might even have light amber. Pours surprisingly clear despite the VT yeast addition.

S: Juicy pineapple, tangerine tropicana, unpeeled mango, and hints of resin/pine.

M: Manages to be soft and juicy with superfine carbonation...maybe even a little on the low side.

T: Passionfruit, black tea, pineapple, orange slice gummies, donut peaches, and slight sourdough maltiness with herbal accents attached. Sweetness is kept low, but tropical with moderate bitterness. I feel like I've tasted beer like this before...it's very solid.

From a growler purchased yesterday at the brewery.

L: Pours a deep gold with a medium chill haze. A gentle pour gives 2 fingers of fine, white head with ok retention. It slowly falls to a 3 mm ring around the glass with a substantial sheet filling the middle of the glass leaving some lacing as the beer goes down.

S: Oranges, tangerines, some candied citrus character, notes of pineapple, light notes of mango, some herbal tea like aromas, and a hint of grainy malt.

T: Follows the nose fairly closely. I get massive citrus in the form of oranges, tangerines, and citrus pith. I also get light notes of pineapple and a faint note of mango. Their is a small amount of malty sweetness that comes in but is quickly cut and balanced by some bitter herbal (am I getting a bit of green tea?) character on the backend which lends a medium bitterness.

F: Medium body with medium-low carbonation. The mouthfeel is resinous and a bit sticky with a light dryness on the finish.

O: Welcome back Fat Ten-er! I like this one, but I feel like the herbal qualities on the nose did not play well with the citrus and tropical fruit. It did work for me on the palate though. Reccomended!
