A slightly different take on that traditional style clocking in at 6% (milds are usually in the 3 - 4.5% range). Big malty flavor, dark brown color, light notes of caramel, chocolate, and a nice smooth medium body.

So a double dark mild? Sure, works for us!

On tap at the brewery on May 25, 2023.

The appearance is medium amber under a modest off-white head.

The aroma is all about caramel and toffee notes with a slight hint of cocoa.

The mouthfeel is light to medium.

The taste is sweet malt forward with caramel, toffee, and perhaps butterscotch. It has a crisp, bright finish.

On tap at the brewery 04/28/21. Reviewed from memory.

L: It has a medium to deep amber color with a bit of haze. The beer appears at the table with a finger of fine khaki head. Ok retention and as the beer goes down it leaves a light spotty lacing on the glass.

S: I get roasted and grainy malt character, caramel, toffee, light notes of chocolate, and a hint of dark fruits.

T: On the palate I get a light grainy malt sweetness, caramel, toffee, chocolate, and light notes of raisins with a very light roasted malt bitterness on the finish. There is also a very light earthy hop character that comes through on the backend and finish.

F: This has a medium body with light to medium-light carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth with a touch of creaminess on the back of the palate and a light dryness on the finish.

O: This is actually my first dark mild and it was a pleasant introduction to the style. This one is malt forward with a very light hop presence. Recommended!
