L: The beer pours a pale gold color with a medium haze. The pour produces two fingers of fine, white head with decent retention falling to a 5 mm ring with a less substantial sheet occupying the interior of the glass. As the beer goes down it leaves a light webbed lacing on the glass.
S: On the nose I get tropical fruit, citrus pith, light herbal notes, a hint of pine, red currants, and a light grainy-sweet malt character.
T: Following the nose I get mangos, red currants, lime pith, restrained notes of grainy pale malts, and and a touch of pine mixing with light earthy herbal notes.
F: Medium body with medium-light carbonation. The mouthfeel is soft and almost creamy with a minimal dryness on the finish.
O: What we have here is a great collaboration beer for a great cause. The typical Nebco grainy malt profile is a bit muted here letting the hops do most of the heavy lifting. My only complaint is that the mouthfeel is hurt by the lack of dryness on the palate. Recommended both for the quality brew and the good cause it supports.
Addendum: the 2023 version of this beer is not imperial and comes in at 5.8% ABV. I am not sure what the previous iteration's hop bill looked like but this one deploys Citra, Mosaic, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin, and Sabro.
