Sampling this beer from a cold 32 oz growler picked up at the brewery about 10 days ago. Pouring into my .5 L dimple mug.
The beer pours a dark cola brown color with a creamy tan head of 4 cm and slightly overflows my mug. Whoops.
The foam fades to a sturdy surface layer and leaves some windowpane lattice on my glass.
Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malts. Aroma is more robust porter than what I would expect from a bock, but I like it.
First sip reveals a medium body with clean smooth texture and active prickly carbonation. Drinks easy.
Flavor is similar to the nose, some dark baker's chocolate and roasted notes. Maybe a little brown sugar, but mostly this is dry and sort of bitter beer. Not hop bitter, but roasted dry bite. No hops actually, no ABV hints either.
If this was a blind test I would call this a porter. I like the beer but it certainly isnt what I expected.

A: opaque; very dark brown in color; a one finger tan head that receded to a wispy cap with a thick collar; little lacing;
S: rich roasted malt;
T: follows the nose from start to finish; the sweetness is balanced by bitterness until the end; the moderate bitterness dominates in the aftertaste;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: a little dark and roasty for the style, but very enjoyable;
