Appearance - dark mahogany body with tan head

Smell - vanilla, maple, dark chocolate, bourbon

Taste - maple, vanilla, dark chocolate

Mouthfeel - medium plus bodied, medium carbonation, sweet upfront almost candy like with the maple and chocolate, barrel presence seems a bit weak

Overall - decent beer here, a bit sweet from the maple and lacking a bit of barrel presence, but worth a try

Price Point - $25/4 pack 12 oz cans

11/19/21 Can dated 10/22/21. Picked up at brewery. $25 for 4 12 oz cans is steep. Similar to Dragons Milk by New Holland. Heavy, sweet, vanilla. Becomes cloying near the end.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Picked up at the brewery 2 weeks ago at the brewery. Donations are going to the African American Brewers Scholarship fund. Another cool program and opportunity. Glad to have helped contribute.
The beer pours a dark black coffee color with minimal dense, yet fluffy tan head of maybe 1 cm. This fades to nothing soon after the pour. Beer looks the part of an imperial stout.
Aroma is rich malty and complex. I definitely get bourbon and dark chocolate and a little booze. Also get maple syrup in the background and a little bit of dry wood scent. No hops anywhere here.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with a smooth texture that is sticky on my lips. Carbonation is very fine, almost cask-like and soft. Beer feels nice and drinks smooth and easy for a bigger beer.
Flavor is dark chocolate and bourbon with some roasted malt and more dark chocolate. I get a hint of maple and some dark fruit, raisins, then I get a little warming booze on the finish. Again, no hops show up on the flavor.
this is an enjoyable, nice drinking big and slightly boozy imperial stout. Very glad to see NEBCO making this one and encourage folks to pick up cans if you like stouts!
