Spin Cycle #37 marks five years of experimentation into the realms of hoppiness. This iteration is a NEIPA with English ale yeast, all the pillowy body and malt, and a stellar blend of our favorite Southern hemisphere hops. Aromas of juicy peaches, apricot, and fresh fruit. Tastes velvetly smooth with citrus hop resin and tropical fruit finish.

Hops: Rakau, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Galaxy, Hallertau blend

A: murky; deep gold in color; 2 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a skim cap; sheet of lace;

S: lemon, peach, citrus, and sauvignon blanc;

T: follows the nose from start to finish; mild to medium bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: nice complexity in flavor and aroma; don't love the murkiness;

On tap at the brewery

L: Pours a deep gold to pale amber with two fingers of off-white head. Good retention as the head slowly falls to a 4mm ring around the glass with slight sheet occupying the interior of the glass. As the beer goes down it leaves a mass of ringed lacing on the glass.

S: The nose presents tropical and citrus aromas, stonefruit, light notes of white grapes, herbal notes, a bit of floral character, a bit of earthiness, and a slight hint of spice.

T: I get over ripe tropical fruits, citrus pith, stonefruit, berry, floral notes mixing with fresh cut grass, a very light grainy malt character, light notes of earthy hops, and just a touch of noble hop spice on the backend and finish that lends a light bitterness.

F: This has a medium body with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth, and as the beer goes down the gullet there is light dryness.

O: I could be wrong, but I believe that this is the first beer that NebCo has officially termed a NEIPA. Compared to all their other IPAs this has the most minimalistic malt profile I've experienced. I have personally never seen a NEIPA made with Hallertau before, but it works here. The Hallertau melds perfectly with the Southern Hemisphere hops to create a unique NEIPA hop profile in a veritable ocean of played out flavor profiles. It's been several years since I have tasted a truly unique NEIPA and this one delivers in spades. Highly recommended!
