Poured on 12/31/2022 from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a medium off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains roasted malts, lager yeast, coffee, chocolate and a touch of hops.
T: The taste likewise starts out bready with a hearty roasted malt character and lager yeast. Then some mildly sweet flavors of coffee and chocolate come in along with some smokiness. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly smoky.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style. This is a solid beer to drink for a while, if you’re in the mood for the style.

L: Pours a ruby brown color with good clarity. The pour gives two fingers of a fine, khaki head with excellent retention. As the beer goes down it leaves a mass of beautiful webbed lacing.
S: The nose presents notes of roasted malt, a bready malt character, light notes of chocolate, light notes of caramel malts, light herbal notes, and a hint of earthy spice.
T: I get a nice malt character presenting bready notes and light notes of roasted malt mixing with light notes of chocolate. From the hops I get an earthy and herbal character with light notes of noble hop spiciness. There is also a medium-light bitterness that cancels out most of the malty sweetness. As the beer warms a bit of earthy black tea comes out on the backend and finish.
F: Medium-light body with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and the finish has a minimal dryness. I really wanted a bit more dryness on backend and finish.
O: I really liked this beer and hopes it makes it makes a reappearance in the future. It has decent body and smoothness on the mouthfeel, but in my opinion the lack of dryness negatively impacts the drinkability a bit. The malt forward palate is really nice with the herbal and earthy hop character perfectly complementing the bread and roasted chocolate. Highly recommended and as I said I hope that this makes a comeback in some form.
