On Cask at Prime 16 on 02/23/12, Into a Duvel Tulip

A: dark brown with hints of red, huge 2” tan-ish head, which recedes to a cap, not much lacing, but good head retention

N: strong bourbon notes fail to overpower the traditional wet willy nose of scotch and oak

T: starts off pretty tame, but you get the wallop of the bourbon in the back end, notes of bitterness from hops compliment the bourbon well, smooth, touch of heat at the end, would love to see them bottles this one for ageing (aged Wet Willy is pretty terrific)

M: full bodied, but not cloying, excellent for the gigantic ABV

O: excellent, a nice twist on the traditional Wet Willy iteration, which is itself a really unique beer (Scotch Ale is meant literally in this case, as the beer tastes like scotch, but does not follow the scotch ale style)

On cask at Prime 16, served in a Klokke goblet.

A: Muddy red-brown body under a solid inch of frothy tan ehad. Great retention and lacing for a cask pour. Nice.

S: Bourbon, vanilla, oak, and plenty of dark fruit. Not much booze. Rich, complex, and appealing.

T: Tons of bourbon, caramel, oak, vanilla; some raisin and alcohol warmth. Tremendously delicious.

M: Fairly light and frothy for the style, but still ok.

O: What a beer! I love regular Wet Willy, I enjoyed Mesquite Aged Wet Willy, and Bourbon Oak Wet Willy is the best of them all. The bourbon-soaked oak chips have been in this cask for at least a couple months now, and they turn the already flavorful base beer into an absolute monster of deliciousness. I hope this cask becomes a regular at future NEBCO takeovers. I want more!
