À La Carte is a 10.5% Imperial Stout brewed with toasted coconut, raw coconut, & cacao. We went all out with this stout, adding over 350lbs of coconut! Decadent yet balanced, this stout tastes like drinking German chocolate cake.

Grabbed this and a few other stouts/lagers on a work trip to Fort Collins, Colo. Saw this described as “À La Carte is a 10.5% Imperial Stout brewed with toasted coconut, raw coconut, & cacao. We went all out with this stout, adding over 350lbs of coconut! Decadent yet balanced, this stout tastes like drinking German chocolate cake.”

Poured a pitch black color with one finger of khaki tan fizzy head, which dissipated immediately. Could see a few random bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Average watery lacing. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.00)

Smelled OK in the beginning but not as good as I hoped. Got shaved coconut, coconut flakes, milk, vanilla, chocolate and hints of chocolate cake. The smell was a smidgeon better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted much better than the nose. In order got shaved coconut, toasted coconut, milk, vanilla, chocolate and chocolate cake. Kind of reminded me of a German Chocolate Cake with the coconut flakes. Super smooth for 10.5 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.00)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was not as good as expected but still an interesting beer. (Overall - 4.00)

Canned 1 month ago.

Pours black with a fizzy tan head that dissipates almost instantly.

The nose is chocolate, coconut, subtle booze, and a savory note.

The taste follows. Medium-sweet dark chocolate and coconut with hints of booze, cherry, and roasted malt. The coconut is almost tropical and bright on some sips.

The mouthfeel is medium for the style. Mild to medium carbonation up front, with a more full middle and finish.

Overall, good. Not too sweet or over-the-top, but maybe lacking depth. This might benefit from some rum or bourbon barrel aging.
