12oz, canned on April 24th, 2025

On the pour a decent 2 finger head formed on top of a very light straw yellow body with a light haze. Unfortunately head retention isn't very good with this beer.

Aroma reminds me of a maltier PBR. I will say this beer cost $17 for a 12 pack so it wasn't pricey, but there are better budget craft lagers, based on what I've experienced so far. Not the cleanest with a decent hit of fermentation notes on the aroma.

Flavor follows the aroma, being quite light with some fermentation notes present. It isn't off, but it tastes cheap. Some slight 2-row notes are present in the way back. No bitterness. I will say the malt flavor builds as you drink more.

Feel is drinkable and crisp with a light astringency. I'll give them this category as it is quite refreshing and easy to put down.

Overall I'm a bit disappointed as this reminds me of a macro lager. Sure it was made only in Colorado, but so is coors and bud, and soon so will PBR. It's a cheap lager that doesn't put an emphasis on malt, but instead is trying to compete with BMC beers. I want more from a craft brewery, even at this price point. For a beer in this category, you'd be better off going with Tivoli Outlaw. At least they're cheaper and have some unique flavors. This just makes me think of all the flagship macros.

I'm sad I was so disappointed. Usually 4 noses has done me right in the past, I've even visited their taproom. I will say it's impressive how close they got this to being a macro lager, bit unfortunately that's not earning any points in terms of the quality of the beer. I will also say I'd be even more impressed if this beer is consistent, but I can taste the cost cutting measures, just like you would in a macro. I'd bet they used corn sugar to brew this.

Canned on March 19, 2025, which makes this a pretty fresh sample.

Premium Lager pours a pale, straw colored gold. Clarity is excellent. A tight and evenly bubbly white head sticks around for a bit before dissipating into a thin ring.

The aroma is extremely mild. It consists mostly of lemon, but does have a hint of what I believe is white rice.

To me, this tastes like many of the macro lagers I've had over the last 40 odd years. Things are very subtle. I'm pretty certain that rice is the adjunct here, because that's what I'm tasting up front. Part way through, a bit of raw malt kicks in. Bitterness is just enough to create balance, but is also unpleasant. It leaves behind a lemony tartness that dries the tongue and lingers until the next sip.

The feel is appropriately light for the style. The carbonation is just about right. This beer is certainly geared toward drinkability.

If I didn't know that this came from a local craft brewery going in, I'd have a hard time being convinced that this didn't come from one of the big ones. It's extremely light, and has all of the characteristic qualities and flaws of adjunct heavy beers brewed at massive scales. I happened to have my go-to cheap beer on hand, which allowed me to do a back-to-back tasting. The cheap one was the better tasting beer by a healthy margin. Unfortunately, 4 Noses isn't the only craft brewery taking a stab at brewing what some would call a "dad beer" that appeals to those of us who grew up in the pre-craft age. The end result is a beer that tastes like a macro, but costs twice as much.
