The Full Sleeve Strong Stout is a beer created with a mix of mostly English specialty malts, notably Chocolate Malt and Roasted Barley. By using Flaked Barley in our recipes, we are able to impart a great deal of body and mouth feel and a beautiful creamy tan coloured foam head. Chocolate and slight coffee notes are present along with some residual sweetness, which dissipates the harshness associated with stouts.

Poured from a 473ml can. Canned on Nov.10/2022, this is the last canning run as Yellow Dog brewing is taking over Bad Tattoo in Pentiction.
An ok Stout but , a thin body and somewhat lacing in taste.
Needs a bit more carbonation.

Appearance: Black. But with hints of reddish cola colour near the edges - but definitely one of the darkest stouts I've seen. Massive creamy khaki head and decent retention. Leaves a fairly large spots of lace.

Aromatics: Fairly sweet dark fruit plum/date, brown sugar, molasses, with undertones of roasted barley and malt. There are subtle touches of tanginess and leafy notes as well.

Taste: I think biboergosum's evaluation was pretty much bang on - bittersweet cacao, stale coffee, with touches of licorice. The flavour though does seem to abruptly stop, you get a wonderful build up and then it just plateaus in the middle.

Mouth: Carbonation is fairly subdued, aside from the foam which is mostly creamy but does have enough bubble action to give it a bit of a grainy texture - closer to porter-style. Nice medium body, bitter lingers across the front-middle of the tongue with a touch of breadiness and extremely mild vapors of alcohol if you breathe deeply on the finish.

Overall: Not a bad stout at all. Not as creamy as I like, but decent enough. Of course in comparison to English/Scottish stouts it does fall a little short in most categories for me. But not by much.

Pairing: A typical stout, so order something from the grill or explore most shellfish. Me I think I would go with a thick and rich sturdy beef pot pie (large and chunky), extra thick and flaky crust, and I would almost make it a burgundy style gravy.

Had this from the tap at the brewery in Penticton. Good dark color with a tan head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin lace on the glass. Definite coffee to me. Aftertaste had chocolate undertones with the coffee. Mouth feel was like a cream ale. Overall not heavy like a stout. Good to great beer depending on your taste. Definitely better from tap than bottle.

650ml bottle, more label imagery indicative of the brewery name. And a 'strong stout', coming in at 5.5% ABV? Isn't that more Stout Ice territory?

This beer pours a pretty solid black, but with prominent basal red cola edges, and one measly finger of generally bubbly tan head, which leaves some roiling seawave lace around the glass as it quickly abates.

It smells of well-roasted caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, licorice root, a soft lactic sourness, ethereal hints of day-old coffee, and tame earthy, leafy hops. The taste is grainy, bready caramel malt, wet char, medium-sweet chocolate, root beer syrup, low-key cafe-au-lait, and the same understated plain-ass noble hops from the nose.

The bubbles are fairly unassuming in their overly genial frothiness, the body a sturdy medium weight, and mostly smooth, a weirdly oaten character sneaking in to do nothing but good. It finishes on the sweet side, just, as the toasty caramel malt and lingering biscuity chocolate are joined by some subtly bristling alcohol sugars.

A tasty stout, with more than a few old-school porter notes - whether that is intentional or not, remains to be seen. At any rate, the English metrics in this one are the only thing 'strong' about it, as using that term in North America for the purported ABV here is nothing short of mock-worthy.

First tried this stunningly rich stout at the hopscotch festival in kelowna and fell in love! Deep rich notes but not heavy and filling like you'd expect. I could drink this all day if they weren't $7/bottle! Awww who am I kidding I've had at least a couple bottles in my fridge at all times since I found a local vendor! And the ones that don't carry the Bad Tattoo brand... when asked about it they say "don't worry, it's coming we get alot of requests for this!" I expect it to make its way up the BA charts quickly!

Slightly sweet with a low hop presence. Fairly sessionable with 5% ABV. Nice chocolate and roast flavours
