One of my favorite beers. It is so light and refreshing. The acidity is so well accentuated by the grainy flavor of the beer. It is best with a shot of flavored syrup in it.

I thought it was odd that it was fermented with apple juice, is that traditional for berliner weiss beers? Hazy, cloudy light yellow. Aroma was a slight tartness and possibly wheat, not bad. Flavor was a mild tartness, wheaty and extremely easy to drink. I could probably slam this on a hot day and not feel bad since it is so low in alcohol.

A really delicious, true to the style Berliner. The fact they have homemade (from scratch) Woodruff Syrup only increases the street cred. Tart, but not too tart. The perfect summer beer.

Delicious crushable berliner weiss. Sampled at the brewery served three ways: plain, with raspberry syrup added, and with woodruff syrup added. All were mighty tasty. The woodruff version was my favorite, kinda sweet and funky. The bartender said the woodruff was grown in her backyard, pretty rad. They had a couple other syrups but i didn't try them. Plan on drinking a bunch more of these.

an interesting method here, apple juice starter for natural lacto. simple sugar makes perfect sense, and i do think just a hint of the fruit comes through. there is a funky almost gym sock sort of weirdness to the yeast though, before the sour kicks in. its not unpleasant, but it limits drinkability of a beer under 4% abv for me, which is hard to do. the color is awesome, almost white from the tap, fizzy and cloudy, but as pale as any beer i have seen. that sweaty yeasty thing is present in nose and taste. the beer finishes insanely sour, as sour as any berliner i have had. not a ton of grain in the middle of this to support it, but its a good summer sour for those who enjoy them this robust. for me it was a little too acidic and that weirdness was a little bit of a turnoff after about half a beer. still, i appreciate it greatly for what it is.
edit: this has improved over time, and is now far cleaner, drier, and more refreshing than it ever was back in the day. still a touch cheesy and for me honestly pretty one dimensional compared to most of their other sours these days, but its a much better overall beer...
