Inspired by Tom Robbins' Still Life With Woodpecker: Tom Robbins tackles some of life’s biggest questions: are redheads supernatural and how to make love stay? Our beer may not answer these questions, but it sure is infused with hibiscus and thusly rates on the carrot top scale—perhaps it’s descended from the Red Beards?
A thirst quencher of a seasonal ale. Light in color, big on flavor. The Belgian pale malt creates an appropriate base for the delicate citrus flavor of hibiscus and kaffir lime leaf. A light touch of late addition hops provide a round flavor and aroma to complement the herbs. The fruity esters of our Belgian yeast round out our creation to make sure the flavors combine into one harmonious experience.

while it is certainly unconventional and not neat in any style guideline, i really liked my first beer from fiction. its subtle on the hibiscus and lime leaf, bold on the nelson hops, and honestly pretty well balanced for a beer chock full of weird ingredients. its easy drinking, refreshing, well carbonated and clean finishing, so check all those boxes, but its also inventive and unique, frankly unlike any other beer i can remember. the grain base is light but interesting, loosely belgian here on the yeast front, but not over the top, just moderate fruit esters and some continuity with the citrus and floral additives. not a beer i want to make a day of, but nice to have a glass of for sure. im curious to see how people react to this one, being as unique as it is. love it or hate it, but it has no conventional flaws in it. my palate dug its weirdness.
