L: Hazy orange gold color with a small white head and several rings of lacing.
S: Strong weedy hops, notes of lemon and lime, a strong malt back bone, which fruity hops were a little stronger.
T: Strong lemon and lime a bit of tartness, some strong piney hops and a strong malty backbone.
F: Fairly heavy body and prickly carbonation wis it was a little more ceeamy.
O: This is an ok Hazy Ipa but it needs to be juicier.

a crowler picked up from the new craft alley on pearl street (neat idea, lets see if it sticks). this is an imperial ipa with mango, i love the label on the big can with all the books, and the info for the beer on their like a card catalogue thing at the library. the beer is softly cloudy with a big pillowy rising white head, looks pretty dense, but not sloppy, very new school. a lot more hops than fruit in the nose and taste of this one. the mango is an accent at best, natural enough, but largely fermented out i would think, covered up by the hops a bit, and in the background in such a big beer. it might stand out in a little better in a smaller beer, but its impact is not irrelevant here, its juicy and fresh and brings out the tropical nature of these hops, and a little sweetness, which i reckon is needed to balance a pretty high degree of bitterness here. its thick to the feel, light pine from the hops, mango suggestions from them too, oily bitterness, pineapple juice from the can, and sap. its good, and the balance is good, but it feels a little forced to be big, dropping this back to the 7% abv range i think would be an improvement in a lot of ways. still, i love fiction, really like this beer, and always find it hard to believe they dont generate a little more hype around here. still way ahead of the curve...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
