a well made and fresh tasting ipa, but this one smells just a little brighter than it tastes, and has an almost candied citrus element to it, not that the beer is sweet, but the hops have an almost confectioners sugar element to them, crystalline and oily in a weird (but tasty) way, not uncommon these days, but the first i have experience this in a beer from fiction, and i reckon its more of a process thing than a varietal specific feature, hard to fully identify, very fresh and new tasting. the smell is even more vibrant, light melon and strong citrus with some spruce element in the finish, candied orange peel both sweet and bitter, and with quite a bit of body for a pale beer like this, its not filling but its hearty, and its nice with some fry bread tacos! clean enough to wash the greasy feeling away, a palate freshener for beer people! i like the hops here, bitter and tasting dry hopped, but also fairly distinctive, not generic here. fiction has done some really nice hoppy stuff lately, please keep it coming!
