an awfully delicious beer from one of the most underrated breweries in colorado. i have not had many sours from these guys, but this one is on point for a hot summery day, a margarita inspired gose, brewed with lime and lime leaf and sea salt, i think they absolutely nailed it! it smells really fragrant, the lime leaf is strong and fresh and obvious, but before it becomes too much, there is some more acidic juicy lime character and piquant tartness from the souring that come in, smells amazing, and makes my mouth water like crazy to sip it. ive never really thought of something smelling refreshing, but this somehow does! the flavor is great too, a more balanced lime character from start to finish, and not so much of it that i cant taste the grain. i get a cool zested element as well as some vegetal bitterness for a flash, like the waxy peel of a cucumber or something, summery as well, and a nice counterpoint, wherever it comes from. the salt is full of minerals and not real subtle, a cool brine aspect to it, and nice with all the wheaty body in here, this still drinks like a beer, not a soda or a cocktail, which is hard to do at this flavor intensity. its also something i want to drink several of, which is almost never the case with these fruited kettle sours, so nicely done there as well! the tart has some linger, and the beer isnt quite dry, but i dont mind it hanging around a little bit. really flavorful and delicious beer overall, has clear margarita elements, and has some awesome can art as well. pick some up and treat yourself this summer!
