not a bad ipa here from goldspot, although like a fair few of their beers, some minor tweaks would make it really really good. two major positives here. the first is that the hops profile is great, slightly sweet floral hops, there is a delicate nature to it, not super bitter by any means, and very very drinkable, but also kind of interesting. the second is the grain bill, its simple and its light, and it doesnt overbalance the softer hops, something a lot of newer breweries seem to fall into doing. they have crafted a pretty cool beer with this one. two minor negatives, one is that it really does need more hops. this beer screams american pale ale at me, not ipa, and its such a cool hop profile i want to be smacked around by it a little more. the second is the relative lack of carbonation. i wish it was a little more alive in the glass, that would take it to the next level. overall though, this is better than many other first batch ipa types from local breweries. notes of clover honey and drying grass and budding trees, its spring all over the place, and for that reason i enjoyed my glass quite a bit.
