Bavarian style hefeweizen in yeast and grist. ‘Murrican in hops. German wheat and pilsner make up the most of the grist bill, with a touch of honey malt for some added sweetness. Bittered with Centennial and flavored with Cascade and Amarillo, our hefe has a touch of lemon to accompany the banana flavors typically associated with the style.

strange take on the style here, i believe they add some lemons to this. its tasty beer, but very light and quite apart from what the style usually is like. not much yeast fog to the color of this one, it just looks like a blonde ale, and it doesnt have much head either. it smells less banana yeast driven, because i do smell the citrus too. more of a spice complex from the yeast, but a mild one at that, not so in you face, certainly not as robust as the german ones. the flavor is nice though, maybe less wheat malt than others, but you do taste it, and the yeast is more flavorful than it is aromatic. i wish for more body and creaminess though, i like a big frothy hefe, and this one seems thin and watery, even though the carbonation is fine. refreshing for summer though, the light lemon kick is a cool way to have the beer finish, makes it stand out. this was probably my second favorite beer behind the breakfast porter from our visit to goldspot, but it could be easily improved upon.
