'Country Folk' is a staple in the Magpie lineup. Brewed in the tradition of the local Belgian farmhouses that created the style, varied slightly year to year to reflect the changing harvests and available local ingredients.
This version features a blend of Korean Mulberry and tart green Plums providing a complex fruitiness to complement the notes of rustic Saison yeast character.
These flavors combine to create an easy-drinking, thirst quenching beer - with a uniquely Korean touch.

12oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lace. It smelled of grains, cereal, yeast and fruity notes. Sweet fruity taste with caramel, pepper, yeast and spices.

Couldn’t be more surprised or delighted to find this at my beer store. Pours with lovely head that simmers down to almost non-existent lacing on a tulip glass. Full-bodied and flavorful with a balanced and subtle funk but nary a trace of horsiness, with Korean mulberry and green plum that gives it a distinct character without being overbearing. Good mouthfeel - rich, almost viscous, but not cloying. Warms well. Recommended - I am keen to find more, and more varieties from this brewer.

craft saison from korea?! way cool! fun little can here, neat packaging and an even cooler recipe, mulberries and green plums, whatever those are. maybe a pop of pink color to this, some malt color too, some shine but not clear, frothy head rises and falls fast back to a thin white layer, lots of bubbles in this though, unique looking. it smells like saison before it smells like fruit, maybe a french type saison yeast, drying, estery, and white winey, with coriander and pepper notes, which are also there in the flavor, some cool subtly too, green olive, caper, and lush like aloe and even jicama, earthy in a way that is also fresh. rose wine fruitiness from the mulberry, maybe some vegetal tang from the plum, pithy and bitter a little bit. the flavor showcases some wheat malt, soft and inviting, with good minerality that sets the yeast up well. i am surprised how dry this is with the fruit, like its nuances of plum, plum wine, sake even, and the mulberry, but its also sort of nonspecific and floral and suggested rather than forced, which leaves this pretty drinkable, especially with late drying tartness, a somewhat recognizable saison ferment, and a quick finish. white pepper, myrtle, and red berry at the end. really neat beer, distinctive for being mellow, the yeast is out in front of the fruit but it all works together very well. splendid little can of beer, spendy as a single but well worth it. way cool, from an unexpected origin, would love to try some of their others. this is smart and professional while still being weird and rustic, very good!

12oz can. No dating information found.
A little cloudy in the body, with the color of pale amber. Brief lasting white head, with rising bubbles reinforcing a very thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma is fruity, with a definite presence of plum. Not having eaten mulberries, but maybe a smell of blueberry is here. Some background yeast ester funk.
Taste is also fruity. Sweetness hits first, then a balancing sourness arrives. Fruit flavors of plum, blueberry, and grapefruit. Underlying dry yeast funkiness. The aftertaste yields to the Saison aspect and its yeast funk esters, but the fruit does not completely disappear.
Medium mouthfeel. Clean and dry finish. Fruit part gets a bit sticky in the early stage of the profile. Supportive carbonation.
Fruity farmhouse ale with the seldom encountered mulberry as an addition.

The pour is sandstone colored. On the taste, I'm getting some of the mulberries upfront & some plum near the finish. In addition to, there is a slight twangy sourness to the beer but nothing too extreme. Oh well, it was good to try a beer made with mulberries & plum from South Korea. Cheers! B

Poured into a Reuben's Brew small snifter. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a fizzy, three finger white head That dissipates fairly quickly to patches with light lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, saison yeast, vague berries; some mineral notes. Flavor is grainy malt, saison yeast, light funk, berries and a little tart green plum; lingering berries in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and sharp carbonation. This is an novel, but well brewed saison. The base malt and yeast are largely traditional, but have a little more malt depth than expected, which I ended up liking quite a bit. The fruit notes are light and knowing which fruit is in here, I could taste both the mulberry and green plum, although I'm not sure its been a long time since I had the former and only rarely had unripe plums. In this saison, they add a nice flavor and character. I liked this quite a bit more than I anticipated, both because of the novelty of the fruit and the newness of the brewery. Not totally traditional, but good. Definitely I'm going to try their other beers after this.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of yeast, berries, light funkiness. Taste is the same as the aroma, some plum is present. Feels medium bodied and well carbonated in the mouth and overall this is a unique and pretty good beer.
