Not my favorite Kolsch, but not bad. It wasn't watered down like some are, so that's good, but still seemed a little light, even for a Kolsch that had a slightly higher alcohol content than most do. I had a friend tell me that this wasn't their best beer, but as an introduction to their offerings, this was fine. I'd probably try other stuff from this brewery if I was in the area, though I don't know that I'd make a separate trip to go there.

i am actually surprised to see this rated so low on here, they perhaps have recently improved the recipe or the execution of it, because i thought it was very good. on tap at old major, it pours a mostly clear very light straw yellow color, and holds a little less than an inch of head, pure white, i think it looks the part just fine. the aroma and flavor are light, but it sure seems to me like they got the water profile right, and thats really critical in this style. the malt tastes fresh and delicate, but also distinctively german, and there is a decent vegetal herbal sort of back end hop with enough bitterness to help this be a little drier. nice balance in a delicate but very true to style beer, i think they have done a nice job with it, and with the crazy food up there, its a good fit, not a distraction or even a chance to be a competing flavor on the table. maybe its time i get back in here and check it out again, this was just good enough to inspire another visit out that way. its been a real long time and sure seems like things are trending up. simple but correct here for a kolsch.

A beer from a brewery only 2 days old. Kolsch isn't easy, let's see...
Nice pour, but left with little head due to to-the-rim pouring. A bit hazy or murky, but still bright
Aroma contains a soft bit of malt and sweetness. Mild
Flavor is also mild. I like a little white grape-ness in Kolsches and it's not really here. It seems all of their beers are on the lighter side, which is fine. Just means you can drink more faster :) I'd like to get a bit of hop zip, too. And this is light.
Good beer to pound
