Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours straw yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Grassy, resinous pine, bright zesty citrus, underlying fruit salad, melon, caramelized banana, tropical and stone fruit, and a hint of blueberry, light floral notes, the faintest hint of coconut, and crackery malt with a crisp dry finish.
T: Bright citrus, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, and lime, a little resinous pine, underlying mix of intriguing fruity notes, honeydew, papaya, peach, passion fruit, caramelized banana, pineapple, and a hint of blueberry, a bit grassy, floral notes, faint coconut, crackery malt, and just a touch of sweetness with a fairly dry finish.
M: A bit on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation, pretty crisp.
O: Bright and crushable with some super unique notes coming from the HBC 1019. I think they nailed what they were after, but I also think that adding just a little sweetness would help make those fruity notes really pop. Not the kinda flavor profile I typically go for, but I wouldn't turn down a second pint, especially on a warm summer day.
(I had a taste of this at the brewery and on tap outside the resinous grassy side was definitely a bit more prevalent. Indoors out of the can the fruity notes came out a bit more.)
