Light brown colour. Dense but thin head.
Fruit and spice aroma. Welcoming.
Hops, malt and cinnamon. I like the balance.
Smooth.
A really nice beer on the first chilly Autumn day of the year.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of May 2013. Picked up from Tesco a while back. The label mentions that the recipe includes raisins and cinnamon. Sounds a little odd....

Poured into a straight pint glass. A deep orange-amber colour with good clarity and medium carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Aroma of light caramel malt with hints of banana, bubblegum, mild cinnamon, fruity ale yeast and faint stewed leaves. A strange mélange.

Tastes of caramel malt with a dry, herbal finish. Notes of caramel/toffee, stewed leaves, faint spice and fruity ale yeast. Well-attenuated yet with a slight fruitiness. A mild bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with nice carbonation and reasonable body. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of stewed leaves and faint spiciness.

I'm not really sure what the brewer was aiming for with this ale - it's a bit weird. It comes across as a fairly bog-standard brew that's had a touch of spice thrown in. Nothing too noteworthy about the aroma or flavour, and the body isn't amazing either. The impression you get is that of a knock-off Christmas brew - you wish they'd just stick to making good beer. Not brilliant; no need to hunt it down.

500ml bottle BBD 31 May 2013: poured into a UK pint sleeve at home on 1 May 2013.

Nice looking brew, reddy brown and clear with a swiftly disappearing head of white bubbles.

Malts rule the nose and taste. Nutty, woody with a spicy feel throughout.

Dry finish, but malty in the aftertaste, slight toffee and caramel sweetness within the flavours, but below the nut, wood and mixed spice leaders.
