473ml can - the first of this new 'sub-style' for me - what, do we call this a 'BISA' or an 'ISBA'?

This beer pours a mostly clear, medium apricot amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat fizzy dirty white head, which leaves a bit of sparse and sudsy island group lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of grainy and doughy pale malt, sort of edgy Belgian yeast, muddled tropical fruit notes, wet dirt, and some nice leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is crisp and grainy pale and wheat malt, a still hard to differentiate exotic fruitiness, some lesser domestic citrus rind, a now well-behaved Low Countries yeastiness, and more decent leafy, floral and piney hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-taunting frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with just a bit of yeast and forest floor detritus making a small dent here. It finishes trending dry, with the same characters from the mouthfeel lingering on after hours.

Overall, this is one tasty and engaging hoppy Belgian-style brew - like in the better versions of its big brother, the yeast and hops work to complement each other, or at least don't get in each other's way. I could sit and stay drinking this stuff for multiple rounds, I can happily say!

It is actually Yellow Dog's Belgian ISA, much more tame than the BIPA. Big hits of citrus and yeast, a very tasty summer beverage. Grab a Growler or Four...

473ml can poured into pint glass a couple weeks back, from notes

A hazy orange liquid, tiny particles everywhere, slow tiny bubbles, a finger of short lived foam leaves lots of random lace

S sweet orange, bruised mango, tangerine, canned peaches, the spicy yeast works well with the tropical fruit, smells good

T pine comes out a little more in the mouth, stone fruit and citrus work well together, some sweet orange candy

M light bodied, soft from the bubbles, slick with a mild bitter kick, very drinkable stuff

O lots of flavor going on in something I could smash in the hot sun, lots of tropical hops with a hint of Belgian flair

This was a great intro to Yellow Dog, fresh and super easy to smash, I’m pretty happy I have 3 more pint cans to deal with
