Smooth-not bitter.
Very little burnt flavor.
No annoying adjuncts; just simple porter flavor.

This beer pours beautifully. The smell is great. It seems to lack complex flavor as everything is overpowered by the initial bitterness, followed by a very bitter aftertaste. It looks and smells like a porter, but is very light. It isn't a terrible beer, but left me wanting more when it came to weight and mouthfeel.

Bought a six pack of this beer at a local grocery store.
Poured into a tulip glass. Clear dark brown color with a thick creamy beige head and nice curtain lacing. Smell and taste of dark roasted malt. A bit of dark chocolate . A tad light for a great porter, but overall pretty good.

Picked up a Six-Pack at HEB based on the recommendation of a beer stocker whose opinion I trust.
From the Blue owl website: FLAVOR PROFILE: A classic robust porter with a swirling balance of roasted malts on a medium body base.
12oz can poured into a Pint glass.
LOOK is dark brown, opaque, with 2 fingers of tan head. Retention is average leaving a thin cap.
SMELL is medium in strength. The smell is strongest of roasted malt, a little roasted coffee, a light chocolate smell and a hint of hops.
TASTE is medium in strength. Roasted malt balanced by black malt bitterness is folloed by a light malty caramel sweetness that's quickly overcome by balanced hop bitterness.
FEEL is slightly above medium in thickness. It's a little creamy, has low carbonation and a astringency level that's slightly below medium.
OVERALL, it's a very good and well balanced beer with an outstanding taste. It's refreshing to see a brewery known for their creative sour beers release a dialed in classic beer. It's a winter release that I hope to see again.
