Creamy and sustained, tan head. Mostly auburn and chestnut coloring. Slightly, off-dry, spice perfumed, smooth, dark roasted malt and grain aroma. Initial sharpness, then a slightly wood tinged spiced and yes, a note of smoke, for the flavor, which improves after a few sips.

Poured from 22oz bomber into my BeerAdvocate teku.
Appearance: murky medium-brown hue with a finger of frothy tan foam atop. Honestly, it's perhaps a tad light for a porter, but in generally it's not too bad.
Smell: sweetness, caramel, toffee, and really not much in the way of smoke. Too sweet for a porter, in my opinion.
Taste: there we go. Plenty of smoke in the flavor, along with that same caramel and toffee sweetness from the aroma. I feel like this is more of a smoked brown ale than a porter -- though at least the smoke is right.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I just can't get into this beer. The smoke is fine, but it's not really in a porter style; I think this beer would benefit from some extra dimensions of flavor.

22 oz into an imperial pint.
Look: dark brown with ruby edges. 1 finger dense light tan head. bounces as you pick up the beer.
Smell: sweet, some chocolate. Getting a hint of some hops. some alcohol. Not too fragrant. Might get a hint of the smoke that is said to be there
Taste: Smoke comes through in the taste. It lingers well past the sip. Alcohol hits the front. Some malty sweetness. Not much more than those three things. As it warmed a few sips had an apple taste that came out of nowhere.
Feel: It poured a bit watery but has a nice creamy mouth feel.
Overall, decent porter. I've cooked pulled pork with this beer before and it came out awesome.
