650ml bomber poured into tulip 10/12/14
A hazed glowing amber liquid, enough clarity to see a couple bubbles but the pump out a well sustained finger of foam that leaves several partial rings deep down the glass
S clove, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, not a whole lot of pumpkin but enough to please, brown sugar, maple syrup, faint orange peel, I'm sure this is all written on the bottle somewhere,
T more of the same really but more ginger, slightly sweeter then I'd guess after smelling it
M has a decent weight, stays on the creamy side of foam, some ginger spiciness linger
O not a bad pumpkin beer, spicy, a little kick, no real issues anywhere
I almost made it to Winter without drinking a pumpkin beer but this one was being blown out for 3$ so how could I resist?

I'd never heard of this brewery when I picked up this beer at the 8th Street Liquor Store in New West. The pumpkin beers were pretty much gone for the season.
A: Copper/amber, clear, maybe a centimetre of head. Very clear.
S: Cinnamon, brown sugar, and maybe even some pumpkin.
T: Ooh, this is definitely one of the better pumpkin ales I've tried. Or is it just that some of the ones I've had lately were really not very good at all? It isn't liquid pumpkin pie, but it's got the spices, just enough sweetness, and it actually has some pumpkin flavour.

Appearance - Pours a copper orange colour with a finger of foamy cream coloured head.
Smell - pumpkin, maple syrup, light aroma of pumpkin spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger), bready malts, and leafy hops.
Taste - Starts off with a light hint of pumpkin then goes into the maple syrup, pumpkin spices, bready malts and leafy hops. The maple syrup adds a unique twist to the pumpkin style.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant sweetness from the maple syrup.
Overall - A unique pumpkin ale by adding maple syrup. This one is definitely off the beaten path from the traditional pumpkin ale with the addition of the maple syrup, but nonetheless has all the elements in place and makes for a pleasant brew.

650ml bottle, brewed at the current time by local Aldergrovans (?) Dead Frog. With so many tenuous at best cease and desist orders from breweries over 'similar' names, how has this been kept from Rogue's radar? Oh, right!
This beer pours a clear, medium apricot amber hue, with two fingers of puffy, densely foamy, and somewhat bubbly ecru head, which leaves some melting snowbank lace around the glass as things evenly subside.
It smells of lightly bready caramel malt, metallic cinnamon, dried ginger root, muddled nutmeg, brown sugar syrup, thin pumpkin flesh, a touch of peppery wheat, and mild earthy, leafy hops. The taste is zingy cinnamon, nutmeg, and powdered ginger spice up front, which is nicely layered into a grainy, bready, and pleasantly caramelized malt sweetness, one that takes a few cues from the sassy wheat guest, along with some background toasted pumpkin notes, and sort of overshadowed leafy, weedy hops.
The carbonation is fairly engaging and thorough in its probing frothiness, the body just on the light side of medium weight, and sort of smooth, the flinty spices taking a proverbial pound or so of flesh. It finishes off-dry, the pumpkin starting to fulfill its contractual obligations, if in a mildly musty manner - the seasonal pie concept still not quite crystallizing into anything tangible.
While not the confluence of flavours that one might hope for or expect from latter day pumpkin ales, Canuck Empire's (good name, that!) version of Pumpkin Patch Ale still delivers all the goods - it's just up to you to put them all together, in whatever format your palate sees fit.
