fine beer, but i like these a little crisper and tighter, and on a hot day after a long walk, it lacked just a bit of the refreshment value i was hoping to find in it, but its good anyway, blonde but not crazy light, perhaps a little under carbonated in a style i want to be uplifting feeling, near clear. the aroma and flavor show a little up front sweetness, corn likely in the mash, but its not as hopped on the back end as it could be, so some briskness is missing there, it doesnt quite finish up, and the lager yeast is near neutral to me, without that lightly fruity note that usually comes through from the mexican lager strain, if that is what they used in this, its not particularly expressive, or whatever residual sugar is left in this is covering up some of its personality. there is some cool graininess to it, pils malt and corn together perhaps, a sort of doughy aspect, and the faintest hit of citrus as it warms. it comes across as almost underflavored and with somewhat less than classic or ideal proportions, less carbonation than it should have too, but its light enough to be drinkable and easy, i just miss the part of this that is thirst quenching. not one of the highlights on their current beer menu in my opinion.

 

A very good lager...

Really enjoyed this one from my brewer-away-from-home in Savannah. Great looking beer with nice clarity and a scent that is lightly malty. Mouthfeel is well carbonated but it does not detract from the overall experience. The taste was also muted but still very flavorful. It's a really good beer, sessionable, and one I will look for when I visit Service the next time in town...
