Half pour (cask) at The Last Drop. Hazy golden with small silky head. Hoppy aroma, grassy notes. Taste turns slightly dank, floral. Nice velvety feel too

330 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.2%. Slightly hazy deep golden colour, moderate but lasting white head. Intense and pleasant hoppy aroma of pine and spruce, some citrus too. Moderate carbonation in the mouth. Medium dry and crisp hoppy flavour, notes of pine needles and grapefruit, hints of tropical fruits. Fairly bitter finish. Excellent IPA.

L3.75 Classic dark amber, poors with a decent head that sadly leaves as quickly as it came.
S4 good nose. Grapefruit main scent.
T3.75 As per nose, grapefruit is the main flavour. A little underwhelming, would like more depth at 6.2%.
F4 Pretty good if a tad thin.
O3.75 I have really liked a lot of Northern Monk's other beers so was a little disappointed with this, expecting it to be a bit of a flagship. Not on par with Thornbridge Jaipur which is the British standard for this style.

A 330ml can with a BB of Jan 2019. Purchased a little while back from Morrisons. I think the name says it all really.

A: Poured into an IPA glass. Possibly can-conditioned. A deep, hazy amber hue with good carbonation and plentiful floating sediment. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of intensely fruity hops with hints of citrus zest, peel, mango, tropical fruit, mild pine resin, leafiness, caramel malt and ale yeast. Very nice.

T: Tastes of seriously fruity hops with notes of citrus peel, zest, pine resin, dank weed, tropical fruit, leafiness, caramel malt, ale yeast and subtle earthiness. Slightly sweet, accompanied by a strident hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and good body. Could be a shade thicker for the strength. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, citrus, pine, tropical fruit, caramel malt and ale yeast.

O: Lovely - a quality American IPA. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are stuffed with fruity hops underpinned by caramel malt and ale yeast. Nice body. Goes down a treat; great if you need a hop fix. Well worth sampling if you come across it.

L: Quite clear amber color, two finger white head, ok lacing, good carbonation.

S: Hops, malts.

T: Hoppy, malty. Delicious!

F: Light to medium bodied, incredibly drinkable and refreshing.

O: Was not expecting much based on looks and aroma but the taste and mouthfeel are superb. Well done!

Pours a light amber coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smell is quite grassy and a little dank, with notes of citrus fruit: grapefruit, tangerine, and a hint of tropical fruit as well: papaya, lychee. Taste is quite green and hoppy, with some biscuity malt as well. Notes of citrus fruit: grapefruit, tangerine and tropical fruit: papaya, lychee with a strong underlying grassiness and mild floral character as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and slight dankness. Medium body and carbonation.

This is a pleasant enough IPA, but the balance seems a little off, the grassiness being a tad too pungent and floral note a tad too perfumey. Still a decent enough overall balance with nice citrus and tropical fruit notes.

Pours a clear, dark yellow, with massive head.

Smell starts bready, before giving in to citrus and a bit of pine.

Taste goes right for the citrus, nice level of bitterness, and the maltbase keeps the balance very well, with a bit of rye and pepper.

Mouthfeel is medum, well carbonated.

Overall, a very good IPA, balanced and sort of an English/American hybrid.
