Collaboration with TankPetrol.
Simcoe features prominently in this beer, bringing passion fruit, grapefruit fruitiness and dank pine to the forefront. It’s always a favourite in the brewhouse and our fresh delivery of the 2018 harvest crop has particularly excited us. We’ve backed it up with the classic tangerine notes of Amarillo, the tropical flavours of Citra and Mosaic and finally a touch of Loral, lending its floral, citrus notes to the whirlpool.
The base beer began with a high percentage of flaked oats in the grist, plus a touch of wheat, ensuring the softest mouthfeel we could muster. We then fermented with our IPA yeast of choice which leaves an accentuating sweetness and generous peach and apricot esters to balance the punchy Simcoe-led hop bill.

Pours a hazy pale golden coloration with a large, lasting, frothy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and juicy tropical notes of mango and passion fruit, with just a hint of apricot, zesty grapefruit and grassy dankness. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of light biscuity malt and juicy, tropical hop notes of mango and passion fruit, as well as lighter, zesty citrus notes of grapefruit and lime peel, with just a hint of apricot, grassy dankness and pine as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness, light hop bite and some tropical notes and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Probably the best example of a hazy West Coast IPA I've had so far, with a great balance of juicy tropical and dank, resinous notes, as well as a good, piney bitterness. Not a trace of the ABV as well.
