We’re no stranger to a multi-hopped IPA or a lactose-infused, luxuriant tropical milkshake but a straight-up, DDH milk sugar IPA is something that until now we hadn’t tried our mash paddles at.
This beer showcases the US classic Amarillo, a resinous variety full of tangerine orange flavour, hints of lemon zest and some floral notes. We backed it up with everyone’s favourite tropical treat Citra and balanced out with our favourite touch of dankness, Columbus and Loral, a hybrid US variety with citrus and herbal notes.
All of this over a base of flaked oats and wheat, a touch of dextrose to boost the fermentable sugars and of course a heavy dose of lactose milk sugar in the boil to round out this silky, juicy, citrus bomb of an IPA.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden coloration with a medium, creamy, lasting head. Smells quite sweet, being dominated by biscuity malt and milk sugar, with lighter notes of tangerine and papaya. Taste follows the nose, being quite sweet, with the milk sugar being quite dominant, some biscuity malt and underlying floral, slightly dank and herbal hops and citrus/tropical notes of tangerine and papaya. Finishes quite sweet, with a very light bitterness and some milk sugar and tangerine lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
The lactose is used quite heavy-handed here, making this way too sweet for personal taste. I also dislike that typical, quite floral orange blossom note from the amarillo and am getting some cat piss on top of that, most likely from the Citra. Yeah, I think this is really poorly balanced, too sweet, too floral and too much cat piss, its only saving graceare some nice dank and herbal notes.

Pours a hazy orange with thick, soft head.
Smell is peachy with notes of grass and citrus.
Taste is sweet and fruity with notes of peaches, citrus, grass and a hint of vanilla. Very refreshing and feels lighter than the ABV would suggest.
Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.
Overall, a very nice IPA that could pass for a session IPA, which would be dangerous.
