To accentuate hints of biscuit, the grist contains plenty of munich malt; a more heavily kilned German base malt with a prominent flavour, plus some lightly roasted amber malt which compliments and offers notes of toast and cinder toffee. This is backed up by light crystal and Special B to add depth and dark fruit character, chocolate roast malt, plenty of flaked oats and maltodextrin to build out the body.
To recreate the outer layer, we added a load of lactose and a touch of vanilla for the basis of that classic milk chocolate flavour. We then went even further adding chocolate during fermentation and copious amounts of caramel late fermentation to boost the ABV and add a decadent dessert sweetness to this rich, deep brown stout.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, lightly roasted, caramel malt, milk cocolate and vanilla, with just a hint of lactose. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by biscuity, lightly roasted, caramel malt, toffee, vanilla and milk chocolate, with just a hint of lactose, licorice and herbal hops. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some toffee, vanilla and milk chocolate lingering in the aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
The mix of chocolate and vanilla lends quite an alluring *milk* chocolate character to this, although it's getting a little overshadowed by an intense, sticky sweet caramel/toffee presence, which thankfully doesn't get quite too cloying due to some lightly roasted malts and a slight bitterness in the finish. While this is a still quite a bit too sweet for my personal taste, there is a certain balance to it and the chocolate, vanilla and caramel additives work together quite well if that's your kind of thing. I had some caramel cream filled milk chocolate afterwards, tasted about the same.
