Collaboration with Barrier Brewing Co.

Their brand manager Bobby is crazy for anything hopped with Mosaic and Columbus, and who were we to argue with this classic combination? We utilised this pairing in the substantial dry hop to bring a huge dank fruity character, intensified by the extra powerful flavour and aroma contribution of Columbus BBC pellets.

We used a large percentage of oats in the grist to provide a soft, full mouthfeel and accentuated this by fermenting with WLP066 London Fog yeast. The result is a smooth and sessionable pale ale, with no compromise on hop character.

Pours a hazy yellow with fine, soft foam.

Smell is grassy and slightly dank. Notes of fruity pineapple and grapefruit and a bit of malt.

Taste is fruity and citrusy with some dankness and notes of melon, mango, pineapple and grass coming through. Soft bitterness, and quite hoppy.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a nice, hoppy and refreshing pale ale. A little thin maybe, but not by much.

Pours a slightly cloudy, pale golden coloration with a large, stable, foamy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of orange, tangerine, lime peel and mango, as well as a mild, grassy dankness. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of light, biscuity malt, strong zesty citrus notes of orange, tangerine and lime peel and lighter tropical notes of mango, with quite a bit of grassy dankness and just a hint of pine coming through as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some citrus and pine lingering in the aftertaste, as well as an increasing dankness. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and carbonation.

Quite a nice, very dank and slightly piney Pale Ale with a good balance of strong, zesty citrus and much lighter sweet tropical fruit notes of orange, tangerine, lime peel and mango, as well as some biscuity malt. A little light-bodied, but really not too bad for the style. Quite enjoyable for what it is.
