We re-fermented Roselle, our year-round Hibiscus Sour Saison, with a whole bunch of raspberries. The result is a fruit-forward, rose-hued beer that’s distinctly juice and dry with increased acidity. MN Craft Brewer's Guild 2016 Winterfest Best Beer winner (Friday session), 2016 & 2017 Growler KOABD Awards Best Fruit Beer.

Had on tap. Mostly opaque violet with a thin off-white cap, visible carbonation. Raspberry, flowers, lemon zest and generally tart berries in the nose. Taste follows suit, raspberry and floral notes lead in a united fashion, lingering berries and lemon support with jammy juice feeling. Lighter and crisper than expected, drinks so easily and spring like.

Deep, clear red with a quickly dissipating white head. Smells strongly of raspberry and cherry. Taste is tart raspberry jam, perfect balance of sour and fruity sweetness. A bit too syrupy on the tongue, but effervescent at first. A great sour, definitely a step up from Roselle.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, pink color with a small, pinkish head of foam. It smelled of raspberry, lemon and sweet caramel. Sweet and tart with nice raspberry bite. Some caramel sweetness, too.

Pour is deep purplish red. Short, foamy, short lived purple tinted head.

Smells fruit, Berry, raspberry, slight floral and funk hints.

Tastes tart berries, raspberry, funk, light Bready and lemon. Finishes dry with a raspberry linger medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

Roselle isn't one of my favorite Fair State beers, but I do happen to really enjoy the Raspberry variant. The nose is what really recommends it - it's sweet and rich and quite fragrant. I used to have a ton of raspberry bushes, and the smell really reminds me of the time of year when raspberries are just falling off of the vines. So fantastic.

The taste is a bit dry and more subdued than the nose would lead you to expect. It's decent - quite light, very refreshing. It's not one of the sweetest, most syrupy sours you'll encounter. It's quite accessible though, and very reasonably priced. Pretty decent beer.

Deep purple body with ruby red foam that dissipates quickly. Nose is quite fragrant with a nice dryness on top of berries. Body is almost perfect. Not super bubbly - lays nicely in palette.

Pours a vibrant red/ruby colour. Smells like raspberry jam, tart raspberries, and juicy. Tastes like tart, fresh raspberries, and finishes like a raspberry jam/preserve. Fresh, tart, crisp, refreshing, 'nuff said.

it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen. the now classic roselle seems to beg for fruit, and raspberry is a really natural choice for this. pink on pink in the color, even brighter stained glass fuschia color than the original, saturated with color, short head on top dissipates pretty quickly from the tap. the raspberries are immediately obvious, and they are awesome. i get them a little more jammy and concentrated than fresh in the nose, sweet and less tart than the actual fruit is, but still very natural and quite robustly dosed. the berries serve to mellow the perfume aspect of the hibiscus in the original, almost seems like less of it in here, but the balance is excellent, better than the original in some ways. there is some tartness in the flavor from the fruit, which i think is nice with the yeast in here, and the floral hibiscus unites it all in a springy freshness thats quite unique. this beer just makes me happy, its a feeling as much as it is a flavor, and i reckon other fruits would make a lot of sense in here too, blackberry comes to mind, but cherry and orange and white gape would all interest me a lot as well, i hope it happens. they also did a double version of this raspberry edition that was remarkable as well! these guys are just absolutely killing it!

Very fresh raspberry aroma that is sweet and tart. The taste doesn't have as much sweetness (which is good) and focuses on the tart raspberry profile. Some light sour and hibiscus notes at the finish, but this is definitely more raspberry than wild/sour. The mouthfeel has that odd thin but juicy texture that many fruit-heavy beers have. Very good overall, and much preferred over the base Roselle.
